OVERVIEW: The Arthur and Janet Hershaft Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to health, the arts, and Jewish causes.

IP TAKE: The foundation keeps a low public profile, which limits information available on its grantmaking priorities and activities. This funder is not very approachable and does not provide a clear way to get in touch, leaving grantseekers with the need to network here.

PROFILE: The Arthur and Janet Hershaft Foundation was established in 1988. It was founded by businessman Arthur N. Hershaft and his wife Janet. Arthur Hershaft was chairman and CEO of printing company Paxar Corporation in White Plains, New York. The foundation does not maintain a website, which makes it difficult to locate further information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies.

Grants for Public Health and Access, Arts and Culture, and Jewish Causes

Past grantees include UJA Federation (Janet is a supporter of the Women’s Campaign); Park Avenue Synagogue; Guild Hall; Lincoln Center; and Food Allergy Research & Education.
