PROFILE: Established in 1962, the Rosenlund Family Foundation is a private grantmaking organization that continues the generosity of Arthur O. Rosenlund. It is “dedicated to enhancing the lives and strengthening the future of under-served children and youth in the Philadelphia area’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods.” The foundation invests in “ arts and/or environmental education,” and programs that provide work and college readiness skills.

Rosenlund prioritizes small and medium-sized organizations in Philadelphia with an operating budgets of $1.5 million or less. Within arts education and environmental education, it prefers projects that “foster knowledge, creativity, interest in the preservation of our natural environment, and that provide the skills necessary to be successful in school and today’s workforce.”

Past projects supported include a youth arts workshop, poetry program, arts and garden program, music theory and instruction, and an after-school children’s farm. In a recent year, the funder reported over $3 million in assets and $153,000 in total giving. A list of recent grants can be viewed here.
