BACKGROUND: Rueben Jeffery III holds a BA from Yale University and JD and MBA degrees from Stanford University. He spent nearly 20 years at Goldman Sachs, eventually becoming a partner. In 2010 he became the CEO of Rockefeller & Co., a New York City-based asset management company. Jeffery has also worked in government. After 9/11 he was named Senior Director of International Economic Affairs of the United States Security Council, and from 2007 until 2009, he served as Undersecretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs, from 2007 until 2009.

POLICY: Jeffery’s philanthropy in the area of policy development emphasizes economics and international affairs. Jeffery serves as a senior advisor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a bipartisan organization “dedicated to providing strategic insights and policy solutions to help decision makers chart a course toward a better world.” Via his foundation, he has also supported the Atlantic Council, the Hudson Institute, the Asia Foundation, Council on Foreign Relations, and the Trilateral Commission.
HUMAN SERVICES: Jeffery’s human services philanthropy has prioritized organizations working with the armed forces and veterans. Recipients include the Air Force Aid Society and the Army Emergency Relief. In New Orleans, Jeffery has also supported Bridge House, an addiction recovery facility.
