SOURCE OF WEALTH: Columbus Hill Capital Management L.P.

FUNDING AREAS: Education & Youth, TBD

OVERVIEW: Kevin Eng and Un Hae Song conduct philanthropy through the recently-minted Kevin D. Eng & Un Hae Song Foundation, which does not have a website, restricting grantmaking guidelines and interests. Available tax filings for 2017 do not indicate any grants awarded; however, this was the foundation’s initial filing so grantseekers can expect more information regarding the foundation’s grantmaking in the coming years. Eng supports his alma mater the University of Pennsylvania and sits on several boards.

BACKGROUND: Kevin D. Eng graduated with a B.A. in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. Eng was a principal at Appaloosa Management LP, where he was employed from 1995 to 2003. He was also a managing director at Duquesne Capital Management. In 2006, he went on to launch Columbus Hill Capital Management.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Kevin Eng supports his alma mater University of Pennsylvania, including its School of Veterinary Medicine. In the past, the couple have also supported Harlem Children’s Zone. Eng is on the board of Pingry School in New Jersey, where two of the couple’s children attend.

LOOKING FORWARD: Only in his 50s, Eng has been named one of New Jersey’s richest residents. With a new foundation, perhaps his giving will start to ramp up. Away from education and youth, another area of future giving may be Asian causes; Eng once sat on the board of Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA).

CONTACT:

Kevin D Eng & Un Hae Song Foundation does not provide a clear avenue for getting in touch with the couple but below is an address:
