OVERVIEW: The Joshua Green Foundation primarily awards grants for the environment, human services, arts and culture and Christianity, giving mainly in the Seattle area.

IP TAKE: The Joshua Green Foundation is the philanthropic offshoot of the Joshua Green Corporation Its application materials indicate that its primary funding interests are “private secondary and higher education,” but tax filings paint a different picture, with grants supporting a mix of human services, environmental, arts and culture and Christian organizations. However, the foundation accepts applications via an online form and a financial spreadsheet on an ongoing basis.

PROFILE: Established in 1963, the Joshua Green Foundation is a philanthropic entity associated with the Joshua Green Corporation, a Seattle investment company that dates back to the 1890s. The foundation is steered by Joshua Green III and maintains a simple webpage on the company’s website. Its purpose is simply to “aid[…] the community through grants that reflect our values.” The foundation’s main areas of grantmaking include environmental and wildlife causes, human services, arts and culture and religious causes. Most of this funder’s grants stay in the Seattle area.
