OVERVIEW: The Gary M. and Patricia P. Holloway Family Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, healthcare, and Catholic causes.

IP TAKE: The foundation keeps a low public profile, which limits information available on its grantmaking priorities and activities. This foundation is still new and evolving its grantmaking, so grantseekers are advised to check back.

PROFILE: Established in 2017, the Gary M. and Patricia P. Holloway Family Foundation was founded by real estate mogul Gary Holloway and his wife Patty. Gary is founder and CEO of GMH Capital Partners, one of the leading providers of multifamily housing in the country. The foundation does not maintain a website, which restricts further information regarding its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. According to tax filings, the Gary M. and Patricia P. Holloway Family Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, healthcare, and Catholic causes.

The foundation does not have a website to guide grantseekers and is recently-minted, with a limited set of tax filings to assess historical giving. However, it often provides general operating support to local causes in its region of focus. Its healthcare giving appears to prioritize local hospitals; Patty currently chairs the Paoli Hospital Foundation Board. Education giving touches schools with which the family has a personal connection, as well as Catholic and parochial schools. Several members of the family attended Villanova University, an important grantee.

Grants range between $5,000 to $410,000. In a recent year, the foundation gave away $924,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking focuses on the Philadelphia area, including its Main Line suburbs. Past local grantees include Villa Maria Academy (Patty’s alma mater); Catholic Charities; and Faith in the Future Foundation, whose goal is to make “excellent Catholic education accessible to any family that wants it.”

The foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited applications.
