OVERVIEW: G-Eazy launched the Endless Summer Fund to assist under-served communities in the Bay Area. The fund is focused on supporting local organizations working with homeless/LGBTQ youth populations.
BACKGROUND: G-Eazy or Gerald Earl Gillum was born in Oakland, California in 1989. He attended Berkeley High School and began making music in his teens. He’s collaborated with artists like Lil Wayne and Britney Spears. His single “Me, Myself and I” hit the top of the music charts.
ISSUES:
LGBTQ AND HOMELESSNESS: In 2018, the Bay Area rapper launched the Endless Summer Fund, which focuses on supporting local organizations working with homeless/LGBTQ youth populations. The fund partners with Larkin Street Youth Services, which “provides housing, education and employment training, and health and wellness supports to help these young people get off the street for good.” The charity recently partnered with the organization to provide meals to local at-risk youth in San Francisco during the COVID-19 pandemic.
OTHER: G-Eazy has also broadly supported criminal justice reform. As well, he’s invested in A Place Called Home, a youth services organization in South Los Angeles.
LOOKING FORWARD: Barely into his 30s, G-Eazy is still very much engaged in his music career. But expect his work in his native city to continue.
