OVERVIEW: The Fascitelli Family Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, youth, health, and the arts. It also earmarks funds for human services and the environment.

IP TAKE: The foundation keeps a low public profile, which limits information available on its grantmaking priorities and activities. Grantseekers will have an uphill battle here and need to seriously network.

PROFILE: The Fascitelli Family Foundation was established in 1993. Its founders are real estate and finance executive Michael D. Fascitelli and his wife, Elizabeth Fascitelli, a Goldman Sachs partner. Michael Fascitelli was head of the real estate investment banking business at Goldman Sachs and later CEO of Vornado Realty Trust. The foundation does not maintain a website, which makes it difficult to locate further information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. Tax filings suggest that the Fascitelli Foundation prioritizes grantmaking related to education, youth, health, and the arts. It also earmarks funds for human services and the environment.

Grants for Education, Health and Community Development

While Fascitelli supports several different areas, the Foundation’s education grantmaking out-funds all others five to one. Most support goes to family affiliated institutions. The family strongly supports Elizabeth’s alma mater Dartmouth, where she sits on the board of trustees. The Fascitellis have prioritizes the Child Mind Institute, where the couple serve on the board of directors.

Grantees have included Rockefeller University (Fascitelli sits on the board), Prep for Prep, De La Salle Academy, Hospital for Special Surgery, Whitney Museum, and Robin Hood Foundation.

Important Grant Details

Grants range from $750 to $250,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $1.2 million. While the Fascitelli Foundation lacks transparency, it does not appear to accept unsolicited proposals.
