PROFILE: The Drumcliff Foundation was established in 1988. It is steered by real estate mogul Daniel F. Gordon. According to the Drumcliff Foundation’s limited website, the foundation largely supports improvement projects in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. Tax records indicate that the foundation focuses primarily on education and youth organizations, as well as human services, and arts and cultural institutions.
Daniel Gordon is interested in education, serving on the board of the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation and on the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy. He’s also past president of the Germantown branch of the Settlement Music School. He serves on the board of the American Friends of Winchester College, which the foundation supports. The Drumcliff Foundation made a two-year commitment of $150,000 to Historic Germantown for physical improvements at more than a dozen of the organization’s member sites. The Drumcliff Foundation has provided financial support for a number of programs at the Emlen School, a public elementary school in East Mount Airy. Since 2015, the Drumcliff Foundation has also been the lead supporter of the Philadelphia Children’s Foundation.
Grants range from $100 to $106,834. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $930,000. Past grantees include Green Street Friends School, Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, UPenn, PA Innocence Project, and Historic Saranac.
