OVERVIEW: Danny Ong Lee, Stephanie Yee and family conduct their philanthropy through the Ong Family Foundation, which primarily seeks to fund programs that are comprehensive, community-based and preventive in nature. Interests include social services, education, medicine and healthcare, and arts and culture. According to available tax filings, the Ong Family Foundation awarded $372,000 in grants in 2018.

BACKGROUND: Danny Ong Yee graduated from Columbia. He was with Goldman Sachs for nearly two decades, where he was a pre-IPO general partner and held various domestic and international senior positions within sales and trading in the Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities Division. He went on to found  Aktis Hanxi Group, which is engaged in investment advisory and funds management. 

ONG FAMILY FOUNDATION: The Ong Family Foundation was established in 1997 and has given more than $4 million to some 84 nonprofits, with a focus on the New York City area. The foundation has a strong web presence and accepts LOIs. 

Grantees include the Korean American Family Service Center, Central Queens Academy, APEX for Youth, YMCA of Greater New York-Chinatown Branch, and Chinese-American Planning Council. 

LOOKING FORWARD: The Ong family’s select interests are not likely to change in the near future.
