OVERVIEW: The Community Foundation of Lee County supports local basic needs, hunger relief, and community events in Lee County, Arkansas.

PROFILE: Established in 1991 the Community Foundation of Lee County (CFLC) is an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation (ACF), which is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. ACF affiliate foundations help connect nonprofits, corporations, families, and individuals with charitable needs and interests in local communities. Based in Marianna, Arkansas, CFLC has grown in assets from $10,000 to over $1.6 million. It aims to keep grants local in order to meet community needs. CFLC funds local hunger relief efforts and community events.

The Community Foundation of Lee County awards grants through the Arkansas Community Foundation’s Giving Tree Grants program. These grants go to nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and other charitable groups that serve residents at the local level. In the past, CFLC also provided Science Initiative for Middle Schools (SIMS) Grants to support middle school science teachers. This funder is particularly interested in supporting local hunger relief efforts through food bank grants and also community events that take place in this area.

Grants range between about $500 and $1,000. SIMS program grants were $500 each, while Giving Tree support varies among grantees.
