OVERVIEW: Andrew Cader conducts his philanthropy through the Andrew Cader Foundation, which, according to available tax filings, gave away a little over $330,000 in 2017recently. Cader sits on the board of Manhattan Institute, which he supports. Besides policy, other interests include education, the arts (particularly music), and human services. BACKGROUND: Andrew Cader started his career as a floor broker on the New York Stock Exchange for Spear, Leeds & Kellogg. In 1997, he took over as co-CEO and earned hundreds of millions of dollars when Goldman Sachs acquired Spear Leeds for some $6.5 billion in 2000. Cader also is an owner of the Tampa Bay Rays. He keeps a rather low profile.

ARTS & CULTURE: Cader moonlighted as a musician while working as a trader. Opera seems to be a particularly big winner of late, with Cader supporting Sarasota Opera Association, The Santa Fe Opera, Met Opera Association, and Jazz at Aspen Snowmass. Other grantees have included Brooklyn Botanical Garden Corporation.
HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES: Grantees have included Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Staten Island University Hospital Foundation, Aspen Hope Center, and Maryland Association for Parkinson Support.
OTHER: Cader sits on the USSA Foundation board and has directed funds to United States Ski Team Foundation as well as Aspen Valley Ski-Snowboard Club.
LOOKING FORWARD: Cader keeps a low profile and has not said much about his philanthropy publicly, as far as we can determine. Still, with ties to multiple regions including New York, Colorado, and Florida, as well as several interest areas, Cader should be watched for greater giving down the line.
